Something Dean Has Learned

I learned something yesterday at the conference. Cultural differences can sometimes be interesting. ;-)

Take for instance the bags of tea below we had at the conference - a conference of technical types (vast majority being men).

I'm not sure I would have chosen this to be the name of my company. Then again, I'm not sure I would use my own name either ("Flaming Man Tea"?? Where does the hyphen go in that name?). The possibilities for potentially negative outcomes are nearly endless.

But it is memorable! And maybe that was the goal.

Happy New Years

Happy New Years! I can't believe it is 2013 already. I guess those Mayans got lazy and didn't finish their calendar. :-)

Anyways, Terrie and I had a great New Years Eve party. Some friends of ours were celebrating a 40th birthday (on Jan 2nd) and so in honor of this, we all went in 1940's themed outfits. I did a "Fred Astaire" style outfit and Terrie did more of a "Jean Harlow" look.

A Kindred Soul

Terrie found a shoe store with a kindred soul (pun intended).

The store is Little's of Pittsburg.

An Ice Cream Cone Vending Machine?

Saw this outside my hotel room at the Crowne Plaza SFO Airport. I had never heard of such a thing and thought it interesting.

The picture is not the best but it actually drops the cone into a holder and fills it with the ice cream and toppings of your choosing!

Terrie and Her New iPhone

So we're sitting here at Patty's Egg Nest awaiting breakfast and I had to post this. Previously I was the one doing this and she was the one being ignored.

Oh how the tables have turned now that she has her iPhone!

The Three Amigos made an appearance as well.

Their leader was "The Marine"...

Aicarumba!

Afterwards, Britt attempted to "disown" 50...

Using the Force...

After purchasing a new camera for our upcoming Italy trip (the old one, albeit a digital camera, is a bit dated and quite a bit larger), I thought I'd test out the HD video feature of the camera on my brother, David (who, by the way, knows a lot about digital cameras as he builds custom "wild game" cameras with autosensing features to take wildlife pictures - just ask him!).

So I video'ed David while he was putting in my new wine fridge....thinking it would be a cool test. Turns out it was a bit humorous.

Go here for the full sized video of David.

In case you're curious about the camera I purchased, it's a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7. So far I'm quite pleased with it's quality...and among it's many features, it even has a built in GPS to see where you took your picture!

Ohh...and Special Effects in the video are courtesy of my Mac. The camera is completely compatible with my Mac and there was absolutely no software I needed to install! I just hooked it up and my Mac grabbed the pictures and video.

Here's a picture from my backyard.

Can't wait to post some pictures from travels!

My Wife’s Zuma Addiction

I call it her “addiction” because I know of no one else who has hit a score of over 1 million – and she just got a new high score of 2.4 million!

According to her, that was her first "perfect game" - no lost lives.

NOTE:  The score is posted in the upper right corner of the below image.

See if you can beat that!!

Cat Napping

So, as I sit here in my house with a big-time cold on this absolutely gorgeous weekend in Seattle, I can't help but be envious of my cat (Cleo) and how she can relax and make a simple patch of carpet look comfortable.

Don't you wish you could be this relaxed??

My Wife's Sense of Humor...

So, my wife is off to visit friends for the weekend and takes my (new) car because her's needed some work. But since I needed some wheels to get around while she's out of town, she got me a loaner car for the weekend....

The guy working at the local Starbuck's said the Big Smiley Face Bubble Car, “Looks Hot on you!” :-/

Thanks Hon! Now all I need is a little fluffy dog!
